Question by gonemonkey13: does anybody have information on gout disease?
my dad has it, and i’m really concerned. his foot and ankle is swollen so bad he can barely walk on it. apparently this is “normal” for this disease? i guess the swelling comes from deposits or uric acid. does anybody else have more information on gout? does it get progressively worse? can you make it go away? is it hereditary? (other people in my dad’s family have had it) any information you have would be appreciated! thanks!

Yes I have a lot of information about it. My father has been suffering from gout almost my whole life. It’s completely normal for his foot and ankle to be swollen. Its important that he stays off of it no tight shoes are socks. If you don’t get it to go down it gets worse. And yes it is hereditary both my brothers have it too. Gout has a lot to do with what you eat and drink. The most important thing is to stay away from RED MEAT!! NO red meat at all that also includes turkey shrimp and any other shellfish. All so drink a lot of fluids water and juice NO ALCOHOL!! Also an old remedy my mother uses is to put a piece of fat back meat ( The fat off the back of a pig) on the swollen area over night. I hope I helped! Good Luck!!
