I have read to eat a half a can of pie cherries or buy cherry juice. It’s supposed to take the gout pain away. It’s worth a try and they say it works.

My husband had gout so bad he was in a wheel chair. The only thing we’ve found that helps him is juicing. It makes it go away and any sign of it coming back we just make more juice and it stays gone! We juice 1-2 beats, sm bag of carrots, 2-3 apples, 2 pears, 2-3 stalks celery, and some parsley. This makes two big glasses full and then we add fresh squeezed lemon juice to each glass. The fruit makes it sweet and it’s really good if you try it. I have a glass with him, so one a day will do. Hope you find some relief! We did the cherry thing and it didn’t help.

Gout is the result of excessive uric acid in the blood, and individuals with gout may also experience uric acid kidney stones. Besides medications, a diet that restricts purine-rich foods will help. The foods that have a very high concentration of purines (150-1000mg /100g) and need to be avoided entirely are organ meats such as liver, kidney, brains, sweetbreads, and heart. Meat extracts, gravies, herring, sardines (in oil) and anchovies as well as fish roe (caviar), should also be on the “do not consume” list.
Foods that have moderate amounts of purine (50-150mg/100g) include, poultry, beans, spinach, mushrooms, asparagus, cauliflower, and whole grain cereal. These foods may be consumed in small portions.
Foods that have a very small amount of purines and may not need to be restricted, include any vegetable not listed above, any fruit, milk, cheese, eggs, vegetable soup, cereal, and pasta, small amounts of peanut butter. Also safe are coffee, tea, chocolate, and carbonated drinks.
It is also extremely important to drink water. Try to have 3liters a day. If necessary, weight loss may be helpful.
This may not completely relieve the pain and discomfort, but it should help a lot.

I’ve used to have gout attacks very frequently. I’ve heard the cherry solution but never tried it. I’ve also heard celery works too. If I have a steak dinner and a few drinks I am guaranteed to have an attack within 24 hours so I avoid those situations. My diet now consists of very little alcohol and no red meat. I haven’t had an attack in over a year now since I changed my diet.
