There is little your husband can do to remedy a gout attack. The best thing is prevention. Staying away from foods high in purines is the first thing to do. Here is a link that shows which foods to avoid.

Also talking to your doctor about allopurinol is a great idea. It is one of the safest drugs you can take and most people who take it seldom ever see a gout attack.

I have EXACTLY what you need. My best friend has gout and it’s all under control from this guide I bought him off the net. The link is below. It’s a book that you download that tells you all the natural foods he can eat to control his gout.
One of the worst things about getting gout is having to change your eating habits. Well that’s not the worst thing, but it’s one of the hardest things. Help him avoid red meats especially if you can.
What you want to do is get some cherry extract, juice, or a whole lot of real cherries for him to munch on. They’ll help flush his system out and break down the uric acid build up in your hubby’s body.
Hope that helps.
