Question by EarnedRespect: Has anyone with gout successfully enlisted in the military after declaring it? If “yes”, how did you do it?
I have gout, and went in the recruiter’s office and declared it when they asked. I’m not sure if I should have lied and said “No” since I see it’s a disqualifier but at the same time I RARELY get attacks.
Has anyone been able to successfully enlist in the military after declaring Gout? And if so, how did you do it? If not, please reply?
Thanks in advance to those who have read and responded.

At the MEPS station they will leave it up to the doctors to give you a waiver or not. I’m going to go out on a limb and say they won’t give it to you…They will not clear you for any illness that can prevent you from serving full duty later.
