If you have a condition that prevents you from working, and the condition lasts more than one year, you can be eligible for Social Security Disability.

It may be possible to recieve SSI while your gout is out of control and is preventing you from doing your job and personal activities,
Here is the site for social security. There are places to look at that tells about if you qualify or not.
ALso talk with your doctor, if he or she sees that it is causing enough problems. A letter from them with the application for SSI could be enough to qualify it for you.

Good luck

Possibly finding another doctor would be advisable. This is a treatable condition.
