Question by homemaker: My husband has gout and I was wondering what are some ways he can cope with the pain or lesson the pain.?
Any suggestions for dealing with the pain will be greatly appreciated. Also, what foods should he stay away from and what foods are beneficial to help him?

Take the medication his doctor prescribed him and change his diet – it should be purine free. His doctor should give you a list of foods to avoid and foods that are ok to have.

He should stay away from A LOT (lettuce is ok) of green vegetables and red meat.

I don’t have the list in front of me right now, but there’s info on the internet as well to help you.

  1. I have also had gout. A friend gave me a 3 day dose of some meds and it really worked. I went to a health food store and bought some concentrated black cherry juice and mixed a 2 to 1 mixture with some water. I drank it for 3 days twice a day and the results were unreal.!! It really works. You can also add real vinegar from the same health food store. Just tell the manager that you need something for the gout. Good Luck. It really did work for me. and I still continue to use it.
