More likely trigger points in his glutes. I’ve never heard of gout in the butt.
Have him get a massage. Make sure it’s not just a “la di da” spa massage, but a clinical, or specific deep tissue massage.
Check with a chiropractor or other natural health worker to find a good one.

Well, it wouldn’t be impossible for him to get in it his hip joints, which could and probably would effect his butt. Beause he sits all day he’s probably going to have decreased blood supply to it, so I’m going to say it’s possible. Even though it is seen mostly in the big toe, it can develop anywhere there is a joint. (or cartilage – sometimes it is seen in the ears!)

The most common joint affected by gout are” The big toe, ankle, hip, wrist, and then all the rest. Whot you seem to be describing may be a gouty tophus (accumulation of uric acid) in the ischial bursa, or just plain ischial bursitis. This is also kknown as “tailor’s or weaver’s bottom.” I have included a link on ischial bursitis below.

Probably not, unless he means his hip joints. Gout attacks joints, not muscles, and especially your toes or fingers. My father had an extreme case of gout this summer, the worst the doctors had ever seen, and it affected him all over, but not muscles, only joints–his shoulders, toes, fingers, hips, etc.
