Question by Julia: What should I make my dad for breakfast? (He has severe gout.)?
Anyone who knows anything about gout should answer. I was wondering if I could use vegetarian sausage and make gravy with the oil that comes off it? Would that be okay? I know that pork is really bad for my dad, but he loves it. Would something like Gimme Lean cause a gout attack?! Thanks. I was also going to make eggs and pancakes.

You want to keep his meals simple. Keep away from fat, high purines, salt, alcohol and highly processed foods. If he is having gout attacks often, if might be an idea to cut meat from his diet for a while. Try to get his acidic levels down with herbal teas, fresh juices and fruit and veg. There are many articles on the gout website below.
