Two Things You Need to Remember in a Gout Diet
If you know someone who is at risk of gout or who has acquired gout, then these two things about gout diet can help you modify their diet to improve their health. Gout is just one over a hundred kind of arthritis that can affect the body. It is a result of having excessive uric acid in the blood. Uric acid is a substance that forms when your body breaks down a matter called purines, a natural substance that is present in every cell of the body and the food we eat.
One of the ways to avoid gout, to fight its risks, and to help treat it is to have a proper gout diet. Although there is no total cure for gout, one can improve his or her diet in order to neutralize uric acid present in the body. Two important things to remember in a diet, which is related to fluids, are first, avoid alcohol and fructose; and second, drink plenty of water.
In a proper diet, avoiding alcohol and fructose is important. Alcohol, especially beer, can have diuretic effects that contribute to dehydration, precipitate acute gout attacks and can affect uric acid metabolism. Fructose and sugar present in soft drinks and some juice drinks can also contribute to the risk of developing gout. It is therefore important to avoid alcohol and fructose if you want to have a successful and effective diet.
Another important thing when undergoing a diet is to drink plenty of water. Drinking about five to eight glasses of water may lower the risk of having a gout attack by approximately 40%. Water and other fluids help detoxify the body by flushing away uric acid from the body, which can help prevent gout attacks.
So, if you want to help out a friend, tell him or her about the two important things he or she needs to remember in a gout diet. This diet has simple principles, but the problem lies only in the person’s attitude to really modify and stick to the diet.

Anti Gout Diet Basics
Prevention is always better than cure, so an anti gout diet should be considered if you don’t want to have gout in the future. What then are the necessary things to keep in mind if you would like to start your diet? Try these: avoid alcohol, drink plenty of water, eat dark colored fruits, and drink milk.
Alcohol – of any form or any level – is known to have diuretic effects that can contribute to dehydration and precipitate acute gout attacks. Moreover, because Alcohol affects uric acid metabolism, it tends to cause hyperuricemia. So if you want to start your anti gout diet now, ditch the beer, wine, or any other alcoholic beverage.
Another important thing to remember in is to drink plenty of water. Drinking a lot of water and other fluids can help flush uric acid from the body; hence, these practices can be extremely good for gout patients. These can even help prevent acute gout attacks. Did you know that drinking as much as 2000ml to 3000ml of water decreases your risk of kidney stone formation? Furthermore, water also helps in diluting uric acid in your blood and urine. Read more about arthritis anti gout diet here.
The third basic reminder is to eat dark colored fruits like cherries, which have been associated with lower levels of uric acid in various research results. What are other dark colored fruits that can be part of your diet? Blackberries, purple grapes, and raspberries!
Skim milk has also been proven to lower uric acid levels by about 10%, thereby making it a good staple in a diet for gout patients. Other dairy products, such as non-fat milk and yogurt, are also helpful so when you go to grocery stores, don’t forget to include these in your carts.
Aren’t you excited to go grocery shopping? Just remember these anti gout diet basics and you will not have a hard time in the grocery stores.

There are many reason that can cause a gout. The main risk factor in a gout case is the levels of uric acid that one has in his/ her body. This increased levels can be cause by many factors, and diet is one of those.
Certain types of foods have in their composition purine. These compounds are known to rise the levels of uric acid. In turn, uric acid is what cause a gout. So, if you stop eating such foods, or at least try to reduce the number, then you can prevent gout attacks. Here is a list of foods that are high in purine, thus leading to gout: bouillon, brains, goose, sardines, dried vegetables, shrimp, heart, liver and many others. These are just some of the foods to avoid if suffering form a gout, or if you are one of those people susceptible to a gout. Furthermore, alcohol is also known to do a lot of damage in gout cases. Try to avoid as much as possible drinking alcohol, especially beer, if you want to lower the number of gout flares. If you can avoid the purine foods and alcohol, you will surely feel a difference in the number of gout flares, as well as in the gout signs. Levels of uric acid can also be risen by sugar and fructose. So if you want to control your gout case, then try to avoid them as well.
Cherry juice or cherries is also good for preventing gout flares. So eat at least a half pound of these fruits to better manage your gout. It does not matter what kind of cherries you eat. All cherries are beneficial in gout cases. Cherry juice is also believed to be very good in relieving some of the gout symptoms, although this has not been proven yet. So as you can see, this tiny fruit can do a world of good in your gout case. There are also some other changes that you have to make if suffering from gout. Besides the dietary modification that you should do, some lifestyle changes must be done as well.
So, as you can see, medication is not the only way to go if suffering from a gout. Some people even say that drugs are not so very useful in gout cases. Because gout is a condition that has long lasting effects, other “treatments ” must be used besides medication.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Diet for Gout – Effective Diet for Gout
An effective diet for gout is an absolute must in treating and controlling your gout. And an effective diet for gout must be low in ‘purines’. This short article lists foods that have low purine levels so that you may safely use them in your gout diet. It also lists those foods that you must eliminate from your diet.
First though let’s look at what causes gout and the part that purines play. Let’s work backwards: The inflammation, redness, swelling and excruciating pain that you get when you have a gout attack are caused by needle-like crystals lodged in your joints and tendons. These crystals are formed out of excess / too much uric acid in your bloodstream.
Uric acid is naturally formed when purines in your food and in the cells of your body are broken down as part of your normal body processes. Under normal conditions your kidneys control the levels of uric acid in your bloodstream and maintains these levels in a healthy, balanced state.
But for a variety of reasons, such as kidney problems, illness, medical conditions, medications, weight, lifestyle, diet, etc., the kidneys can’t maintain normal healthy levels of uric acid, with the result that you have too much uric acid in your bloodstream.
So you can see that there is a correlation between high levels of purines and gout. It thus follows that any effective diet for gout must consist of foods that are low in purines.
Here is a list of foods that go to make an effective gout diet…
Fruit & berries (especially cherries), tomatoes, celery, vegetables (not asparagus or cauliflower), foods high in vitamin C, low fat dairies, bread (avoid white flour products), cereals, tuna, salmon. Also drink lots of water (80 ounces per day).
Foods to avoid in your gout diet are; red meat, offal, mincemeat, shellfish, herring, mackerel, sardines, asparagus, cauliflower, white flour products, yeast, yeast extract.
Of necessity the list of foods above to make an effective diet for gout and the foods to avoid are summarized. In addition, gout is a rather complex subject and important as diet is there are many other issues that impact your gout and your ability to overcome it and prevent it recurring. And if you’re suffering severe gout pains right now, the above diet for gout won’t give you relief nearly fast enough.
So if you wish to discover exactly how to get relief from gout pain in 2 hours and how to prevent your gout returning, all using a simple all-natural home remedy, then please go to http://gout-relief-today.blogspot.com and you can start right away, today.
