“Gout Foods To Avoid
Find Gout FAQs, Health Advice And Information
Blurtit.com
There was no increased risk associated with a diet which included:
peas
beans
mushrooms
cauliflower
spinach
Even though these foods are considered high in purines. Choi’s team also found that low-fat dairy products decrease the risk of gout and overall protein intake had no effect. Ultimately, diets shown to be connected to gout are the same kinds of diet linked to cardiovascular disease.”
When it comes to condiments and processed foods, purines are less of a problem, except in the case of high-protein condiments like anchovies and anchovy paste, parmesan cheese, bleu cheese dressing, etc, which you would do well to avoid.
Mayo, catsup, mustard and most salad dressings are low in purines.

What are the Foods to Avoid for Gout Sufferers?

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – What are the Foods to Avoid for Gout Sufferers?
Time and again, my patients have asked me to give them a list of what foods to avoid for gout sufferers. I constantly tell them that the list of foods to avoid lies in keeping the uric acid levels low. Gout is a result of having excessive uric acid in the blood. The proper diet therefore includes those that can regulate the uric acid in the body.
The first on the list of foods to avoid for gout sufferers is alcohol. Alcohol has diuretic effects that can contribute to dehydration, which can hasten heightened gout attacks. Unless you want to experience these gout attacks, avoid alcohol of any form – wine, beer or any other kind. Read more about foods to avoid if you have gout.
The second on the list of foods to avoid is soft drinks. Soft drinks contain extremely high amount of fructose and sugar. Studies show that there is a strong association between the consumption of fructose and the risk of developing gout. According to the study, those who consumed two or more servings a day increased their risk by 80%. So don’t be tempted with that can of cola.
Although Vitamin C is important and can help reduce the risks of developing gout, you should not take more than 2,000 milligrams of it per day. This would be too much that it can increase your uric acid levels. They key is to research about the Vitamin C content of the foods or supplements you are taking so that you will stay within the limit.
It is pretty simple, isn’t it? Avoid those that can dehydrate you, such as alcohol, and those that can raise your uric acid levels. If you are already planning your gout diet, simply keep a list of foods to avoid for gout sufferers, then consult the list every time you are in doubt.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – List of Foods to Avoid if You Have Gout
It is important to know the foods to avoid for people with gout so that you will not worsen your condition and actually strive to improve it. Gout is just one of a hundred types of arthritis that can affect the body and is a result of having excessive uric acid in the blood. The way to treat gout is to have a balanced diet that can regulate uric acid levels and to have a healthy lifestyle.
The first on the list of foods to avoid if you have gout is anything that has to do with alcohol. It is totally not advisable to consume alcohol if you have gout. You will not benefit at all from alcohol. It is known to have diuretic effects that can contribute to dehydration and trigger acute gout attacks.
What is important in the list of foods to avoid is to take note of those foods that can raise uric acid levels, such as too much Vitamin C. Although Vitamin C helps in reducing the risks of developing gout, there is a limit. The limit is not to take more than 2,000 milligrams per day.
The third on the list is soft drinks. Okay, so this is another drink, but really, soft drinks highly contain fructose and sugar. Studies have shown a strong association between the consumption of fructose and the risk of developing gout. According to one study, those who consumed two or more servings of cola per day increased their risk of developing gout by 80%.
These three kinds of foods will basically guide you in your diet, so that you will know which ones to consume, which ones to lessen consumption, and which ones to completely wave goodbye to. If you still have any doubts or questions, simply remember that the whole point is not to raise your uric acid levels and not trigger any attacks. The list of foods to avoid if you have gout should be based on that.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Foods to Avoid for People with Gout
People with gout need to always remember what foods to avoid in order to avoid the flare-ups or the attacks and in order to treat gout. These would be foods that can increase our body’s uric acid levels, and can thus increase the risks of worsening gout. Gout is a kind of arthritis that results from excessive uric acid levels in the blood.
One of the foods to avoid for people with gout is alcohol. Whether the alcohol is beer or wine, anything that has to do with alcohol is known to have diuretic effects that can lead to dehydration. In turn, dehydration can trigger gout flare-ups. Even if different kinds of alcohol have varying effects, with some causing lesser effects on uric acid levels than others, it would still be safer if alcohol were avoided altogether.
If you have gout, you should also avoid soft drinks. Soft drinks and some juice drinks contain extremely high amount of fructose and sugar. According to various studies, there is a strong relation between the consumption of fructose and a person’s risk of developing gout. These studies also show that those who consumed two or more servings a day increased their risk of developing gout by approximately 80%, which is extremely high! This only concludes that soft drinks can really be that harmful.
Another important set of foods that you should avoid is anything that has bad fats, such as those found in red meat. A healthier option would be the fats found in salmon or mackerel, so these should be part of your diet rather than the red meats.
Although saying “no” to these delicious and tempting foods to avoid for people with gout might be difficult at the start, the long-term effects are very much worth the effort. This list will help you achieve your goal of becoming healthier and of feeling way much better.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Foods To Eliminate Gout – What You Should And Should Not Eat In Eliminating Gout
Want to discover which foods you can eat to eliminate gout? Here, you’ll learn which foods you can eat and which foods you should avoid in order to eliminate gout caused by high uric acid. You’ll also find out why diet is so important in preventing your gout returning.
As a gout sufferer you have to be very careful not to increase your already high levels of uric acid in your bloodstream. And certain foods have the capacity to do this. To understand how this works, let’s go back to basics…
Your gout is caused by elevated uric acid in your blood which deposits as crystals in your joints, the big toe being by far the most common one. So anything that can raise that uric acid level should be avoided.
Uric acid is produced through the breakdown of chemical compounds in our cells called “purines”. Crucially, these also exist in much of our food at varying concentrations.
Most of the uric acid that’s produced in your body is normally flushed from your system by your kidneys, leaving normal levels that we need. But sometimes your kidneys are below par and cannot flush sufficient out. Or, sometimes there is just too much uric acid being produced in the first place. Whichever it is, the result is higher-than-normal levels for you.
So you have to get those levels down in order to eliminate gout. And not only get them down, but to keep them down, so that you don’t suffer recurring gout. This is an important objective because these recurring attacks can lead to permanent joint damage, and even kidney damage, including kidney stones.
And although prescription drugs can help to do this, they have to be taken over the long term. Because once you stop taking them, your levels can rise again. This happens because these drugs (e.g. allopurinol) can’t address the underlying cause of your gout. This is why very many gout victims take them for most of their lives. Rather than do this gout sufferers are increasingly turning to natural remedies.
But, a key determinant in your gout is your diet. The typical Western diet is high in animal protein. And foods high in protein generally have high levels of purines. And of course high levels of purines just means more uric acid production. So this is why a gout sufferer should change to a low-purine diet to help eliminate gout.
Typical foods to avoid are things such as; venison, game, beef, gravies, pork, offal, bacon, certain fish (mackerel, herring, anchovies, sardines), shellfish, poultry (especially turkey), certain beans and peas, some vegetables (e.g. cauliflower, asparagus, mushrooms), lentils, oatmeal, etc. Plus alcohol should be avoided.
But many foods have relatively low purine levels and can be eaten. These are foods like; essential fatty acids (e.g. nuts, flax seed, salmon, tuna), complex carbohydrates (cereals, rice, pastas, green leafy vegetables, cabbage, kale, parsley), and foods with high vitamin C (red cabbage, potatoes, red bell peppers, oranges, mandarins, tangerines). Also low fat dairy products and selected fruits like cherries, strawberries, and grapes.
Because you still need correct levels of protein, it’s important that your diet is well balanced. You may also have to consider taking natural supplements to replace the minerals, vitamins and nutrients, etc. that you would have got in the foods that you decide to eliminate from your diet.
You’re in luck though. There’s a special gout report available online that has all the info. you need. It is what thousands of ex-gout victims worldwide have successfully used to prevent their gout returning. It also contains a special 2 hour gout pain relief program.
And it uses fully-researched, totally natural methods. So that you benefit two ways: (1) you get rid of your excruciating pain very fast, and, (2) you prevent your gout returning, so that you reduce the risk of permanent damage.
If you want to get gout pain relief in 2 hours plus prevent your gout returning in the future, then just click here and discover how you can quickly do both without expensive drugs and their horrible side effects.
