There was no increased risk associated with a diet which included:
peas
beans
mushrooms
cauliflower
spinach
Even though these foods are considered high in purines. Choi’s team also found that low-fat dairy products decrease the risk of gout and overall protein intake had no effect. Ultimately, diets shown to be connected to gout are the same kinds of diet linked to cardiovascular disease.”
When it comes to condiments and processed foods, purines are less of a problem, except in the case of high-protein condiments like anchovies and anchovy paste, parmesan cheese, bleu cheese dressing, etc, which you would do well to avoid.
Mayo, catsup, mustard and most salad dressings are low in purines.

My diet is not rich meat or shellfish and I get this periodically. The medication prescribed by your doctor will not help much. I need something to relieve the symptoms once they start. I’ve seen ads for use online but are skeptical about them. Has anyone experienced this and found something that can help me?
Gout is a condition that can be kept under control in most cases. For many people, finding and alternate treatment of gout seems to be nearly impossible. This is more than likely because of the magnitude of information that is available online about gout. Many people are easily discouraged once they try their first alternative treatment and it seems to fail. What many people fail to realise is not everyone will respond to any treatment the same way. Some people respond very well to specific treatments while others do not respond at all. The same holds true for home remedies and alternative treatments for gout. If you are concerned with taking medication to treat your gout symptoms, you are not alone. Many people are showing serious concern for medications, both over the counter and prescription. Thankfully, there are natural alternative methods that prove to relieve the symptoms experienced by gout sufferers. Here are a few of the regimens that you might want to consider. Herbs are said to be quite beneficial for successfully treating gout symptoms. These can be found in a few different forms to please a wider range of individuals. you can buy them in pill or capsules, teas and even extracts. If you will be using a powder form of an herb it is best that you follow the directions on the container unless your medical care provider has suggested otherwise. Homeopathic remedies are another popular alternative treatment for gout patients. There are a variety of suggested pain relievers you can take advantage of. Among them are Belladonna, Aconite, Bryonia, Ledum and Colchicum. ? Speak with your doctor or a doctor specializing in homeopathic treatments before you begin utilizing it. Finally, among the most common and popular treatments for gout is one Grandma would have told you to use. Alternate between hot and cold. First you start with a hot compress, leave it on your joint for about 3 minutes and then switch to the ice cold compact. This remains for 30-45 seconds. Now for Grandma’s other course of treatment, get off of the area that is hurting you, for example the foot. Stay off of the gout infected limb for a full day. as you begin to feel better you should rotate the joint or put minimal pressure on it. However, do not stay in bed for more than 24 hour or you could be setting yourself up for more pain instead of less!An alternate treatment of gout does not have to be expensive or even outrageous. Sometimes, just remembering what an elderly relative would tell us to do is more than enough to eliminate the pain.
