Congestive heart failure- Avoid salt. There is a lot of salt in “deli” foods and canned soup. No more bologna or sliced ham.
Try to avoid processed foods. Try to eat raw vegetables, or vegetables that can be steamed in a bag (quick and easy). Sweet potatoes are very good with a little garlic cooked for five minutes or ten minutes in the microwave. Grilled chicken and beef with low salt seasonings – play with cilantro, Rosemary, other seasonings besides salt. Food does not have to be bland, just no added salt.
Salt will draw fluid into your lungs and body instead of letting your body eliminate it in your urine.
If you are diabetic also, work out with a dietitian how much food you can eat and how many vegetables you can have.
Gout- Avoid peas and try to get meat consumption down. Eat vegetables (except peas).
