Gout: Its Symptoms and Levels
If in the event of encountering throbbing pain on the part of your joints, you might immediately think of it as arthritis. Yet studies now declared a condition that has long been related to arthritis which is known as gout. On the whole, gout occurs when uric acid crystals build up in your joints, thus it is otherwise known as uric acid crystal-triggered arthritis. Symptoms of gout usually become apparent in the joint of the large toe, but it may perhaps appear in the foot, wrist, hand, elbow, ankle and knee; though there are exceptional incidents where gout is found on the shoulders spine or even hips. This illness is normally localized meaning it does not spread from one joint to another.
Inflammation of the affected joints, pain and redness of the area where the gout is, stiffness in the affected joint and swelling around it is also possible. Other symptoms of gout can be found throughout the body, and this may include pain and swelling in other areas such as: big toe, ball of the foot, arch of the foot, ankle, knee, knuckle, wrist, elbow and hip. Some of the most precise signs that gout has already taken place are: gouty arthritis, skin lumps, arthritis attacks which are can rapidly become apparent and the recurrent attack of arthritis.
When putting in motion the area that is affected by gout, it can become extremely painful. And by not letting it breathe or by keeping it covered only aggravates the painful feeling. Another significant symptom of gout is hyperuricemia, or the unwarranted production of uric acid. And as previously mentioned extreme production of uric acid in the blood are determinants of increased susceptibility to develop gout.
Gout has long been described as a disease in which the signs of it grow at a swift pace. More often than not the symptoms occur in one day as it generally occurs to the other joint at a time. It has been pretty exceptional that its symptoms appear in two to three joints all at the same time, when this happens it could no longer be classified as gout. But if these symptoms are left untreated, chances are it would permanently damage your joints which might eventually lead to disability.
Gout can sometimes be bemused with pseudogout which is another condition only with similar symptoms. However, with pseudogout its cause has been rooted to the formation of crystals made of calcium, not uric acid thus may involve special approach in treatment.
Levels of Gout
Gout symptoms gradate throughout four levels. All through out the first stage, which is also known asymptomatic, the uric level goes afar the normal level, however the symptoms of gout may still not be apparent during this level. The second stage is known as the acute stage wherein mild symptoms are already visible. Next stage is the intercritical stage wherein the patient doesn’t experience any symptoms which could last for some time even up to years. The symptoms though may recur within six months to about two years from the first attack. Lastly, the chronic stage of gout wherein frequent attacks are already experienced by the patient while simultaneously affecting other joints as well. This is the stage wherein the presence of a big tophi located in different joints becomes a problem because it might lead to kidney damage, kidney stones and hypertension.

Gout Symptoms – are you Out With Gout?
Can you not go out because you feet ache? Do your joints seem to grow like gingers? Is moving become very uneasy for you? You may be suffering with gout. Do you always eat legumes or beans and after eating, you can not even stretch your fingers? You may be suffering from gout.
What is gout?
Gout is a disease caused by congenital disorder in uric acid metabolism. Uric acid is a product of waste material found in the urine and blood from the chemical processes of the body. In case of gout, the monosodium urate or more popularly called the uric acid crystals are being deposited on the articular cartilage of joints, tendons and surrounding tissues. The crystal deposits are due to the increase of uric acid concentration in the blood stream.
Gout is characterized by inflammation of the tissues that could also burst through the skin. That is why people suffering with gout sometimes have sinuses discharging a material white as chalk. Moreover, gout is also known as metabolic arthritis.
Gout Signs and Symptoms
Gout has visible symptoms. Persons with gout usually suffer with swelling and pain in the joints especially in the hands a nd feet. There is also an The presence of agonizing, sudden, unexpected burning pain, redness of skin in the areas affected, warmness and stiffness of the joints are also felt. Sometimes, patients also become feverish. The crystals inside the joints and the inflammation of the tissues around the joints cause the pain. These tissues also cause the skin to swell, tender and sore. Many patients, due to extreme pain, may not even allow other people to touch the affected areas.
Where Gout Attacks?
Gout usually attacks in the upper and lower extremities especially when these parts of the body lack exercise. The lack of exercise could cause the crystals to be easily deposited because the joints are at rest and the blood is also flowing into a smoother flow. However, almost 75 percent of first attacks of gout are recorded in the big toe. But aside from not, gout is not limited to the big toe, it could also attack other joints in the feet and hands like in the ankle, heel, instep, knee, wrist, elbow, fingers, and spine. Gout in the spine often results in backaches and difficulty in moving because the spinal column becomes stiff. Poor blood circulation in fingers due to earlier injury could also lead to gout.
Since the kidney is responsible in filtering the blood stream, a malfunction of the kidneys could also lead to gout because of the high levels of uric acid that the system is not able to eradicate.
Men between the ages of 40 and 50 are most prone in developing gout. Protein-rich foods are often the cause of high levels of uric acid. Alcohol intake could also affect the level of uric acid and can cause acute attacks of gout. Moreover, the development of gout could also be a result of hereditary factors.
Diagnosis of Gout
People with high levels of uric acid in the blood are could also not develop gout as long as the urate is within the normal range. However, when a person suspects that he or she is already developing gout, the urate test should be administered after the attack has subsided. Through complete blood count, the level of uric acid in the blood is also determined. Other tests include electrolytes, renal function and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Early diagnosis of gout could prevent the patient to develop severe arthritis.

What is Gout and What are the Symptoms – Learn More About What is Gout and What are the Symptoms
The disease of Gout is caused by the accumulation of too much uric acid in the body. Substances called purines are broken down and the outcome is an abundance of uric acid. Purines can be found in tissues all over the body. Purines can also be found in many foods that we eat such as liver, anchovies, peas, and green beans. Generally uric acid is naturally dissolved in the blood.
The uric acid passes through the kidneys in the body and then exits the body in the urine. Sometimes though uric acid builds up in the blood when:
The body naturally increases the amount of uric acid it produces.
The kidneys, for some reason, do not do their job of purifying the blood and does not exit enough of the uric acid from the body.
A person eats a diet that consists of foods that have high levels of purines.
When the uric levels in the blood are very high it is then called hyperuricemia as most people that have hyperuricemia do not go onto develop gout. Gout can develop though if there are large amounts of uric acid crystals form in the body.
There are some reasons you can be more likely to get gout.
If you have a family history of gout you are more likely to be afflicted with the disease.
Men are more at risk to get gout than women.
If you drink a lot of alcohol or have a drinking problem in which you drink a large amount on a regular basis than you are more likely to get gout.
People who have a weight problem also are more likely to become afflicted with gout. The more obese a person is the higher the chances that they will get gout.
Considering that foods high in purines can cause gout it goes without saying that by consuming large amounts of foods high in purines will increase a persons chance of developing gout.
If you have had an organ transplant than you are more likely to have gout than those who have not had any organ transplants.
Being exposed to lead in any way will increase a person’s chance of getting gout. By knowing the chemicals with lead in them you can decrease your chances of becoming afflicted with gout.
If you have an enzyme defect within your body that does not naturally break down purines than you are more likely to get gout. By not breaking down the purines the uric acid crystals can start to form throughout the body.
There are some medicines that if taken can increase your change of getting gout such as diuretics, cyclosporine, levodopa, and even aspirin.
By taking the vitamin of niacin you increase your chances of developing gout.
Gout generally occurs in four (4) stages (asymptomatic, acute, intercritical and chronic) and has the following signs and symptoms:
Asymptomatic stage - urate levels rise in the blood, but produces no symptoms
Acute stage - symptoms usually lasting five to 10 days
* sudden attack of joint pain
* swelling
* joints feel hot, tender and look dusty red or bruised
Intercritical stage - symptom-free intervals between gout episodes. Most people have a second attack from six months to two years, while others are symptom-free for five to 10 years.
Chronic stage
* persistently painful joints with large urate deposits in the cartilage, membranes between the bones, tendons and soft tissues
* skin over the deposits develop sores and release a white pus
* joint stiffness
* limited motion of affect joint

Gout Relief Medication Side Effects And 3 Natural Alternatives For Relieving Gout Symptoms
Gout relief medication can be effective but has many side effects. Find out about them here, plus, natural gout relief alternatives to drug-based medication.
There is no doubt that mainstream medication can help eliminate the symptoms of a gout attack, and, help prevent further attacks by reducing uric acid and maintaining these low uric acid levels in your bloodstream.
The typical medications that your doctor will prescribe for a gout attack are NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), Colchicines, and Corticosteroids, to help relieve the symptoms of a gout attack, i.e. redness, swelling, stiffness, heat, inflammation, and of course, excruciating pain.
Known side effects are things like; stomach pain, bleeding, ulcers, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, thinning of the bones, weight gain, fluid retention, high blood pressure, lowered immunity to fight infection, etc.
And in order to prevent recurring gout attacks your doctor may also prescribe uric acid reducing drugs like Allopurinol and Probenecid. Again, these work very well once the appropriate dose is established. But again, they have bad side effects such as; nausea, diarrhea, allergic reactions, joint pain, loss of appetite, etc. Also, you have to take them long term because they only work while being taken.
[Now a word of caution here: never stop any medication, even if you suddenly notice side effects. Go straight to your doctor who will decide on the best way forward].
You can see from above why more and more gout sufferers might be turning away from drug-based gout relief medication and turning to natural gout remedies instead. Natural remedies can relieve the symptoms of gout, plus, lower uric acid to prevent further gout attacks.
Here are just 3 natural home remedies for gout that help to relieve pain and inflammation:-
(1) Cherries – have natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Eat between 30 and 40 everyday.
(2) Bromelain supplements – act like NSAIDs. Suggested dose 2 x 500 mg each day.
(3) Celery seeds – also have natural anti-inflammatory properties and act like NSAIDs. Add 1 tablespoon of seeds into 2 cups of water and boil until soft. Extract seeds and drink 1/2 cup 4 times a day until symptoms go away. **Note: Because of their diuretic effect, celery seeds should not be used by people with kidney problems, or, pregnant women.
In terms of reducing uric acid levels and keeping them under control, the best natural way is through your diet:-
Foods contain chemical compounds called ‘purines’ that produce uric acid. So, as a gout sufferer needing to lower uric acid levels, foods that have high concentrations of purines need to be eliminated from your diet. Or, at the very least, seriously reduced.
These come under the general headings of fatty red meat, poultry, seafood and legumes. But within each, different foods have varying levels of purines. You need to look at your present diet and compare with these individual foods in order to come up with a new diet plan that will work best for you.
Now, the need to prevent recurring gout is important because it can eventually lead to permanently damaged joints and even kidney problems such as painful kidney stones.
You’re in luck though. There’s a special gout report available online [see below] that has all the information you need in one place. It is what thousands of ex-gout victims worldwide have successfully used to prevent their gout returning. It also contains a special 2 hour gout pain relief program.
