Question by Mommy Honey: My doc thinks I have gout. Anyone out there had it on your hand?
I have a growth that’s been developing on the inside of my hand for about three years. It’s not in the joint and it only hurts now with alot of pressure, like opening bottles. Anyway, I’m seeing a rheumatoid doc in a few weeks. Anyone out there had gout on your hand? It’s on the base joint of my index finger.

You can get gout in any joint in your body but, if it’s been there for 3 years, it probably isn’t gout. Gout clears up and goes away for most people and they have intermittent flare-ups during their lifetime. You might consider an appointment with an orthopedist who specializes in this kind of thing which is probably a ganglion cyst and can be removed, sometimes in a clinic setting. You can go to WebMd.com and type in the above term and read up on this condition and see if your symptoms match. I would not cancel my appointment with a rheumatologist though because he may be able to find an answer for you also. A simple blood test can show the presence of uric acid which would be indicative of gout – hopefully you have had this done already.

You should definitely consult a nutritionist, which is likely to be covered by your health insurance considering your medical conditions. I wouldn’t take advice on something so important from people you don’t know on the internet. Good luck.

Question by *Britt.Paige!: Are there any home remedies for gout?
My dad has gout really bad in his feet. He can’t hardly walk anymore because of it. I would really like to try to help him find something to help cure it, other than taking medication the doctor subscribed him. Does anybody know of any ‘home remedies’ that would help him?

This is a web site that I found. To be honest, I think the medication and diet changes are your best bet. Good luck

My father has this disease called gout. He has difficulty walking because your foot is swollen and has a burning sensation. I wondered what kind of drugs or cream I could go shopping for him? Hot ice would work? Does anyone know of other methods to help treat the pain on the use of prescription drugs as strong as percoset? I do not like the idea of using prescription drugs as strong.
Know someone who can not afford the necessary medicines. I can not at this time either.
I take allopurinol daily, but now have more frequent episodes.
Anything that is not the recipe, because my husband refuses to see a doctor.
I have not had an attack in nearly five years and try to watch what I eat, but my wife and I were the caretakers of his father, who has cancer. We had to take a lot of fast food, most people ate a lot of food prepared by family and intenzionati.Edit: 14:25, 02/25/2007 Yes, I’m with an outbreak at this point I have not had one of every five years. My wife and I were invited to a steak dinner last night (I should know better), and a blow. I can barely walk right now, and can not see a doctor until Monday.
