It is possible to get gout in knees, elbows and hands along with the feet. However, having gout in large joints usually indicates chronic gout so you would have bad attacks elsewhere too.

Question by jingles: I have Gout and Arthritis around both my big toes. It’s absolute agony, if it’s not one it’s the other?
It has got so that I ask myself which pain I prefer, the Arthritis or the Gout. Is there nothing can be done. What about amputation, would that be a cure or would it just travel elsewhere?

You need to see a Rheumatologist. Reason being that some drugs for arthritis can cause gout. Therefore a Rheumatologist will be able to advise on the correct treatment.

Question by Answers202: Has anyone been sucessful in curing gout in their feet and toes?
I know what not to eat. Everything has cleared up, except for the toe next to my big toe. It has gone down in size considerably, but wearing a shoe on my right foot tends to hurt. Any suggestions?

Goutty attacks come and go, they will eventually go away if left untreated {but extreme pain}, it is not cureable, only treatable. Most MD will place the patient on long-term medicines to control the flare-ups. Tell your doctor you need a Uric Acid Lab done.

I don’t think that she externally hurt her toes, so it sounds like the pangs were coming from the inside of her toes.
Could this be a symptom of gout? Or what else might the problem be?
