Treatment Of Gout – 4 Ways To Relieve The Pain
Gout is a condition that directly attacks the joints. Basically, gout is a form of arthritis. Although most common in men, women are also affected and it has great potential to become extremely painful. Treatment of gout is generally acute, yet physicians may prescribe medications to reduce the chances of future attacks. There are also methods of treatment that the patient can implement at home that will help alleviate the pain that it can induce.
Gout is actually easy to control and the patient can play a significant role in doing so. The main objective for treating this condition is to stop the pain while also stopping it from harming the joints, tendons and other tissues. Gout is particularly fond of the big toe, but it is known to affect other areas of the body.

I have home health care due to my suffering from a number of serious illnesses, one of them being type 1 diabetes. In connection with that I need a podiatrist to come to my house on a regular basis to care for my feet – very important for diabetics. This past week the doctor gave me a cream (samples) to try on my neuropathy pain in my legs. It was amazing! Didn’t “cure” my pain but, really helped. It’s called “Relief” and is put out by a company called “Corganics”. You can Google them on line as it isn’t sold in stores according to the doctor. I am in no way connected to that company and only pass this on in the spirit of Y/A as it might help a fellow poster. It seems like the cream works well with arthritis and that is basically what gout is. Good luck with it if you decide to try it. Btw, it IS rather pricey but worth it I guess depending on how much pain it eases!

I’m not sure what the technical definition of arthritis is, but gout is where uric acid pools in joints in the body, then forms uric acid crystals, then the body’s immune system attacks, then there’s inflammation and excruciating pain. I’ve had it in my big toe, ankle and knee. Have had it for 10 yrs.
To define a good gout medicine, what I’ve learned in my research over the years is that you need to help the body do 2 things: get rid of uric acid, and not produce so much uric acid.
To get rid of uric acid, allopurinol is a good med. It’s inexpensive and has no side effects. Other things to do: drink 1oz of water for every 2 lbs of body weight, every day. Also sip on 8 oz of water mixed with 1/2 tsp of baking soda. Helps the body be more alkaline which in turn helps to get rid of more uric acid.
To not produce so much uric acid, you can take celery seed pills. It can help the liver to not produce so much uric acid. There is a new medicine out that says it does the same thing, I forget the name.
Check out http://www.best-gout-remedies.com, it’s the best website I’ve found so far.
Now if you are in a gout attack, there is colchicine and indomethacine. Those two help me alot during an attack. I haven’t had an attack in 3 months now, since I’ve been doing allopurinol, celery seed pills, and the baking soda in water (and drinking lots of water daily).
Diet can be a huge factor too. Stay away from anything that dehydrates the body, such as beer and coffee. Avoid foods high in purines (which the body converts to uric acid), such as gravy, organ meats, red meat. Avoid foods that make the body acidic, such as high fructose corn syrup, white flour products. Eat lots of fruits and veggies and sour dairy (cottage cheese, sour cream, plain yogurt in smoothies made with fruit and orange juice). Drink 100% fruit juices, V8 Fusion is my fav because it has both fruit and veggies in it and tastes goooood.
)
Good luck to you!
