collard greens, carrots, dandelion and squash are all really good at absorbing the acid that causes gout and keeps the flare ups down.

Cherries are not a vegetable (fruit), but they are excellent for healing and/or preventing gout attacks. Use fresh if you can; otherwise, the tart ones in a can (not the sweetened ones).
Gout is a form of arthritis caused by a build-up of uric acid in the joints. It’s much more common in overweight people. Attacks are often caused by trauma, such as smacking your foot against a dresser. Most people suffer tremendous pain in an attack that can be helped by the prescription Indocin.
Stay away from alcohol, coffee, processed foods, high fructose corn syrup, protein shakes, fatty red meat, asparagus, soft drinks, turkey, peas, beans, cauliflower, and mushrooms. I’ve never heard about broccoli one way or the other, but it’s in the same family as cauliflower.
Eat bananas, cherries, leafy green veggies, blueberries, lemon juice, strawberries, grapes, garlic.
Some people (see below) use cherry JUICE, but that’s never worked for me. Has to be the whole cherry.
If you’re suffering with gout, try going raw as much as possible. Definitely a smoothie (with banana for the potassium) in the mornings. (Do a search on green smoothies, and one on eating raw.)
The pain CAN leave, but it certainly can feel unbearable.
